An Updated Learning Route: 21st-Century Learning

Hey nerdz! Technology surely affected the process of learning. It became much more student-centered, creative, and cognitively challenging. What do I mean by these? Well, let's dive into it.

Learning became student-centered

In the past, teacher were the ones who had the heavy responsibility to teach. Now, however, students use different apps, video platforms, information resources to study. Furthermore, technology made it easier to keep track the data of every individual student.

Learning Became Creative

Students can use technology to produce new materials, such as animations, songs, videos. Teachers can assign students to produce such materials. Then teachers can combine these student made materials with their own materials. This lifts a heavy weight from shoulders of the teachers.

Learning became cognitively challenging

21st-Century learning requires many social and technological skills, such as media literacy, information literacy, and flexibility. Contrary to that, it was a lot easier in the good ol' days. You go to school, take your textbook, listen to the teacher, take the exam.

I also think that technology is a heavenly boon for teachers and learners too. Two decades ago, it was nearly impossible to make listening exercises. Now, you open youtube or spotify, you search for videos and podcasts in your target language and BOOM! The best listening excercise for you my fellow nerd. In addition, language is not just immitation, it also is creation. When students write their own stories or make their own videos, the language becomes a permanent part of their brain because they have fun. Needless to say, technology really changed the learning process for good. Teachers should find ways to use technology as much as possible in their teaching career. Bye, Bye, nerdz!
